Nordic Swan Ecolabel Certification
Sólar was the first cleaning company in Iceland to get the Nordic Swan Ecolabel and we take great pride in that. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel is a public ecolabel of the Nordic countries and a leading ecolabel in the world. The Nordic Swan Ecolabel sets strict requirements for the environment, health, quality, and functionality.
Important milestones achieved with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel 2007
- Cleaning materials decreased from thirteen to four and all of our materials have the Nordic Swan Ecolabel
- Reduction in the usage of clear plastic bags, from three tons to one ton per year
- All employees receive the same training and instructions on how to clean
- Strong quality control ensures good results
- Reduced environmental impact
„Kuðungurinn“ Environmental Award
For its work in improving the environment, the company received the Kuðungur in 2007, the environmental award from the Ministry of the Environment.
Festa
Sólar is a part of Festa, the center for corporate social responsibility. Festa‘s role is to promote corporate social responsibility among Icelandic businesses, increase awareness in the community and encourage cooperation and action in this field.
UN Global Compact
Sólar is one of over 9,000 companies worldwide that are members of the UN Global Compact. This organization strives to provide guidance and support for those companies that want to do business responsibly with the aim of keeping a sustainable future.
Sólar was the first to get the Nordic Swan Ecolabel in 2007.
